Student debt got you down? HPE has a program that can help. Through the Student Loan Repayment Program, HPE will contribute to your student loan payments—up to $9,000 over a 3-year period.

Who's eligible?

You’re eligible to participate in this program if you:

  • Are an active, regular, full-time US employee and have worked at HPE for at least 3 months (spouses/domestic partners and children are not eligible), and
  • Have completed undergraduate or graduate coursework at an accredited institution within 4 years of enrolling in the Student Loan Repayment Program.

Please note: Interns and limited term employees are not eligible. See program policy for details.

How does it work?

  • First, you’ll enroll via Fidelity NetBenefits®. You’ll need to provide a copy of your most recent student loan statement that shows your account number, payment mailing address and current balance. Can’t find your online statement? Check out Fidelity’s Quick Guide to Getting Started for help.
  • Fidelity will then verify your loan and send confirmation that your enrollment is complete. If, for any reason, your loan can’t be verified, you’ll be notified of next steps.
  • Once your enrollment is complete, HPE will send an extra contribution directly to your student loan provider each month through Fidelity, up to these annual limits:
    • Year 1: $2,000
    • Year 2: $3,500
    • Year 3: $3,500

Keep in mind, this program is intended to help you pay off your loan faster than you would on your own and is not meant to replace your payments. You’ll need to continue making your minimum monthly payments to your loan provider even if your monthly payments are less than what HPE reimburses. Loan repayments made by HPE are considered taxable income and will be reported on your W-2. Most loan repayments made by HPE are considered taxable income and will be reported on your W-2. However, due to the 2020 CARES Act (Section 2206), employer payments on Student Loans made between March 27, 2020 through December 31, 2025 are considered tax-free to employees.
